The GGFF's Fundraising Efforts: A New Year, A Shared Purpose: The GGFF Canada New Year’s Day Fundraising BrunchJanuary 1, 2026

The Gareth Gawaine Forbes Foundation (The GGFF) Canada community welcomed the New Year with intention, generosity, and shared purpose by hosting a New Year’s Day fundraising brunch in support of two schools in Jamaica: Kendal Infant and Primary School and Beulah Infant and Primary School.

The intimate brunch was hosted by Dr. Suzanne Robinson Davis, Board Member of The GGFF, and her husband, Mr. Kurt Davis, Consul General of Jamaica in Toronto, at their home in Canada. The gathering brought together friends, and supporters who are deeply committed to improving the lives of underserved and at-risk youth through education system strengthening.

This event represented the collective efforts of The GGFF Canada arm, demonstrating how diaspora leadership and community engagement can play a meaningful role in advancing educational equity across borders. While modest in size, the brunch showed the power of a small group working toward a shared purpose: to raise funds to support the purchase of digital learning tools, and computer equipment within the two beneficiary schools in rural Jamaica.

Guests enjoyed a rich Jamaican-inspired menu, reflecting culture, heritage, and the warmth of community. The atmosphere was elevated through the generosity of our sponsors, including Ms. Carrie Martin, entrepreneur and designer, who thoughtfully re-imagined the space into a beautiful and welcoming brunch setting. We also extend sincere appreciation to Grace Foods, Canada for providing refreshments that added to the spirit of hospitality and celebration.

Beyond those present, many supporters of The GGFF showed their love and support for the initiative. Friends of The GGFF who were unable to attend in person generously contributed financially, reinforcing that community impact is not limited by physical presence. Their support was instrumental in the success of the fundraiser.

We also wish to warmly acknowledge two individuals whose generosity reached us from across the region: Ms. Janet McEwan, who contributed from the United States, and Dr. Jose Davy, who donated from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Their gifts, made through The GGFF website, exemplify the shared commitment to the Foundation’s mission and the power of global solidarity.

Funds raised from the brunch will be used to equip and upgrade computer and digital learning tools at Kendal Infant and Primary School and Beulah Infant and Primary School. These investments will allow students to develop essential digital literacy skills, access modern learning tools, and participate competitively in national academic and technology-based school competitions. Strengthening these skills at the primary level provides students with a meaningful advantage as they transition to high school and beyond.

As we begin the year, The GGFF Canada New Year’s Day Brunch stands as a testament to what is possible when leadership, generosity, and community come together with purpose.

The GGFF extends heartfelt thanks to our hosts, sponsors, attendees, and supporters who helped make this initiative a success. Together, we are building stronger educational foundations today to prepare our children for tomorrow.

Transforming lives. Creating opportunity.

Stay tuned to find out about other fundraising efforts of The GGFF.
